Mama, You Are Strong

Being a mom is hard. These little people rely on you for so much. And it’s more than just feeding them and providing physically for them. They rely on you to teach them. To mold and shape them into capable and kind adults.

Sometimes that’s a lot to handle. Life gets overwhelming. At times you want to cry, and some days you do.

But mama, you are strong.

Being strong doesn’t mean you don’t struggle. It doesn’t mean you push your feelings aside and ignore them. It’s quite the opposite, actually.

Admitting that life’s hard is, well, hard. But that’s part of being strong. It’s so easy to compare yourself to all of these “perfect” parents. Spoiler alert: they’re not perfect. We all struggle. And it’s time to start normalizing how hard being a mom is some days.

It’s so easy to feel like you’re failing. Maybe you think that you yell too much or let your kids have too much screen time. Like you’re not meeting all of their needs and you’re somehow ruining them. But I promise you, you’re not.

Parenting is full of ups and downs, and sometimes life feels like nothing but downs. Thankfully, one bad day doesn’t define you. One bad week doesn’t define you. Kids are forgiving. They love hard and they don’t see your weaknesses like you do.

To them, mama, you are strong.

Here’s a reminder to fill up your cup. Take a break from the laundry. Leave those dishes for later. Take time for you. Read a book. Watch a TV show. Go cry in the bathroom and eat a box of cookies. No judgement here.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Reach out to a friend or a medical professional. There’s no shame and it certainly my doesn’t make you any less of a mom.

This season of life goes by fast. Embrace the hard days and learn from them. Take life day by day. Give yourself grace and believe in yourself.

And always remember, mama, that you are strong.
