Mommy’s Time Out in Downtown Bowling Green

0

Don’t tell my husband, but sometimes I tell him I am at the grocery store when I am really out relaxing + drinking coffee + shopping. Retail therapy is a real thing for me. A cup of coffee or a new top is how I give myself a little pick me up, and not very often do I get to do this without a one-year-old strapped to my hip.

After having my daughter I went through a very weird stage with my wardrobe. My feet grew a size, low rise jeans will never happen again, and honestly, I just didn’t feel comfortable in anything. Have you ever seen the SNL skit called “The Cut?” It’s where this group of moms throw a soon-to-be mom a baby shower and keep telling her that since she is now a mom the haircut will find her. If you haven’t seen it YouTube it right now. Well, this was how I was starting to feel but with my closet.

I soon decided that it was time for me to feel back to myself and I started collecting items I truly felt confident in again. Now that my secret is out, go give yourself a Mommy’s Time Out, and enjoy a shopping experience from one mom to another at one of these two mommy owned businesses in Bowling Green!

Mode Elle Boutique and Eden Fashion Boutique are both located in the heart of Downtown Bowling Green. Not only are these boutiques absolutely adorable, but they are both owned by MOMS! You won’t leave empty-handed and you will feel confident + trendy. As a mom, the feeling of shopping can be intimidating and knowing that there is another mom helping me shop is so empowering.

I had the pleasure of chatting with both Stacie (Mode Elle Boutique Owner) + Kati (Eden Fashion Boutique Owner), and was able to ask them a few questions to help us moms while shopping!

As a mom yourself what is important for you to incorporate into your store for other moms?

“Versatility, Flexibility, and Affordability. Whether you are a stay-at-home mom or a working mama, chances are fashion isn’t always your #1 priority. However, we make it our mission to make it easier! As a mom, we deserve to look and feel good! Choosing pieces that are versatile, that can take you from day to night with little effort, are moveable and flexible (literally for those moments when you’re chasing those kiddos around), and affordable help make shopping that much easier.” Stacie Banfield – Mode Elle Boutique

“We always keep #momlife in mind when we’re buying and we choose pieces with the perfect combination of comfort and style. We want to be able to move from the floor with toddlers, to the office, or to an evening out with friends — all with ease! Specifically, we look for a higher rise in pants along with just enough stretch. We always ensure that tops and dresses are bra-friendly and we try to have a variety of silhouettes so that all body types can find something flattering.” Kati Thompson – Eden Fashion Boutique

What is your favorite winter trend?

“Do I have to pick just one? If so, the simple answer is layering! High waisted skinny denim ( black, my personal favorite) with lightweight layers and a pop of texture or print. I love the winter monochromatic look of a black high waisted skinny denim, black lightweight mock neck sweater, paired with a vegan leather jacket and black suede heels. And of course, we can’t forget our love for the “teddy” jackets!” Stacie Banfield – Mode Elle Boutique

“My casual favorite is mom jeans paired with a graphic tee and a sherpa bomber jacket. My dressy favorite is a patterned midi skirt paired with a sweater. An animal print skirt it at the top of my list!” Kati Thompson – Eden Fashion Boutique

Do you have anything exciting coming into your store for Spring 2020?

“Absolutely! But we can’t share all of our secrets just yet, so make sure you’re following us to find out! One thing we can promise is that MOMS will be a part of it.” Stacie Banfield – Mode Elle Boutique

“Skirts are still very popular heading into spring. The best thing about this trend it the ability to dress a skirt up or down. Wear it with a silky blouse for a night out or with a graphic tee and tennis shoes for a trendy trip to the grocery store!” Kati Thompson – Eden Fashion Boutique

What is your favorite advice to give other moms looking to spice up their closet?

“As a mom in her 30-somethings, who wants to be practical soccer mom one day, and a boss babe the next, don’t be afraid to be you! Stop with the phrase, “I’m too old/young to wear something like it”. Just wear it! Have a wardrobe of staple pieces, but try to mix it up with seasonal trendy pieces outside of your comfort zone.” Stacie Banfield – Mode Elle Boutique

“Never tell yourself you can’t wear a particular style! If you love it, wear it. There are no rules. Just buy styles that you love and that fit well — and then own your style. I’m also a huge supporter of shopping local boutiques — you’ll find unique pieces and exceptional service!” Kati Thompson – Eden Fashion Boutique

This calls for a toast. So, raise your glass. Whether it be Chardonnay or a tall Cup of Joe and let’s cheers to giving ourselves a Mommy’s Time Out.

Until next time Friends!
