Sweet and Simple Valentine’s Day “Heart” Work

0

I love Valentine’s Day! And no, not for romantic reasons…although it’s nice to get flowers and candy too! I think the crafts for Valentine’s Day are the absolute cutest! They’re fun, adorable and they really show your loved ones you care. Whether you’re gifting them to your spouse or grandparents, these crafts are perfect for anyone. I offered three levels of “expertise,” if you will, below. One craft is full assistance needed (mostly for infants or younger children), one is moderate assistance needed, and one is a pretty independent craft that I think any kiddos over the age of 1.5 can do!

Craft #1 – Washi Tape Hearts

This craft allows mom and dad to step back and just let their kiddo do their thing. It’s fun for them and it works their fine motor skills! This craft is super simple too and they really can’t mess it up. Win, win!

Supplies needed:

  • Washi tape
  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  1. Cut a heart out of construction paper.
  2. Have the child tear strips of washi tape off the roll and put it on the heart.
  3. Continue until they are pleased with their work.
  4. Voila! It’s literally that simple. And it turns out so cute!

Craft #2 – Love Bugs

These are just so adorable! My girls really enjoyed doing these. Disclaimer: I used hot glue and my kids weren’t a fan of this so Elmer’s Glue may be better if you have younger kids.

Supplies need:

  • Canvas or cardstock
  • Acrylic paint – you can use other paint but it will likely fade over time
  • Googly eyes
  • Permanent marker
  • Pipe cleaners cut into .5-1inch sections
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Paper plate
  1. Squeeze paint onto the paper plate.
  2. Have your child dip their pointer finger into the paint and press it onto the canvas or paper.
  3. Continue until they feel satisfied with their work.
  4. Wait for the paint to dry.
  5. Add googly eyes and pipe cleaner antennas. They can also add legs and smiles with markers if they’d like!
  6. There you have it, the cutest Valentine’s critters ever!

Craft #3 – Bottom of My Heart Artwork

This is just the sweetest craft to give to anyone your kiddo loves! And it allows them to have your kiddos’ handprints and footprints forever, which is one of the best gifts.

Supplies needed:

  • Large canvas, cardstock or construction paper
  • Acrylic paint – you can use other paint but it will likely fade over time
  • Sharpie
  • Paintbrush
  • Paper plate
  1. Squeeze paint onto the paper plate.
  2. Paint a little bit of paint onto your child’s foot, press it onto the canvas, cardstock or construction paper, then continue with the other foot.
  3. Next, you’ll do the same with your child’s hands but you’ll do them upside down in the shape of a heart.
  4. Wait for the paint to dry.
  5. Write the saying, “From the bottom of my heart to the tips of my toes, I love you!”
  6. Yay! Easy peasy! Display this sweet piece of art or give it to a loved one. 🙂

I hope these crafts help put your Valentine’s Day craft needs at ease! Sweet, simple and so fun. Happy Valentine’s Day, friends!
