I recently blogged about my top 10 favorite mom/parenting Instagram pages, and as I mentioned in that article, it was supposed to just be an article of my top 10 Instagram pages to follow, but that was too hard! I could not narrow a list down to 10, so I thought, why not make it a series? This time around I decided to focus on my favorite accounts to follow just for fun. You know, mostly celebrities, with a few other pages thrown in. It’s part of why we all love Instagram so much I think- we get a glimpse into the lives of celebrities, influencers, whatever via pics and stories. Before Instagram, I’m not really sure if there was a medium where we were able to do this and really feel like we knew a celebrity, and Instagram gives us just that opportunity.
In no particular order, here are my top 10 accounts to follow just for fun:
Britney Spears
What can I say about Brit’s page? I know a lot of people (myself included) have gone down the Internet rabbit hole of her life and the “Free Britney” movement. If you haven’t, I imagine you are googling it right now. I don’t know what to think, but there are many mentions of her posts in one of my Facebook messenger mom group chats, so I know it keeps people talking about her. FYI if you do check out her page, the comments have some of the most entertaining content.
Kelly Johns
It’s no secret I watch the Bachelor, so I am aware of how ridiculous/cheesy/dramatic, etc the show can be. Sometimes people’s reactions to the show can be better than the show itself. Insert Kelly Johns and her entertaining Bachelor/Bachelorette recaps where she re-enacts the show’s episodes as all of the relevant cast members. It’s good stuff.
Ali Manno (Fedotowsky)
Ali is part of the Bachelor franchise and was a Bachelor contestant before becoming the Bachelorette over ten years ago. However, that’s not actually why I’m adding her to the list. Ali is super relatable as a mom, and I love the content she posts about her family, affordable shopping finds, life in general, and yes also Bachelor/Bachelorette related topics.
Dan Levy
I know I’m not the only one out there who is a HUGE Schitt’s Creek fan. This Canadian comedy is in my opinion, one of the best, if not the best, shows out there in recent years. So, it’s kind of a no brainer that I wanted to add one of the show’s stars to my list. Dan and his dad, Eugene Levy co-created the show, and if you haven’t seen it yet, GET ON IT!
Epic Funny Page
Their description says it all. Funny Memes. Funny Videos. Isn’t that what we all are on Instagram for?
Mindy Kaling
I’m kind of obsessed with Mindy Kaling. Ever since I read her first book, “Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?”, I have just loved her. I enjoy following her page and keeping up with whatever she is doing next.
Jellyrolls Orlando
This one might just be a me thing since it’s Disney related, but my husband and I LOVE the dueling piano bar on the Boardwalk at Disney World. The Jellyrolls page links you to the piano players’ accounts and they often go live for “shows”. Piano Rob in particular has played every night of quarantine, and my husband and I are frequent listeners.
Kristen Bell
I mean, who doesn’t like Kristen Bell? I feel like she’s super relatable and could be everyone’s best friend. She and her husband Dax Shepard keep it real about married life and are super adorable together.
John Krasinksi
I have been obsessed with this handsome guy since the Office, and he’s only gotten better with age. In recent months, it had links to Some Good News, and who didn’t love watching those uplifting videos during the quarantine. It made me love him even more if at all possible.
Loryn Powell
I’m not sure why I am intrigued enough to watch multiple videos of a funny lady tasting and ranking hard seltzers, etc., but I am, and that’s where this page comes in. I’m not ashamed to admit I’m a tad basic, and this year has been the year of trying all of the hard seltzers. Thus far, I’ve been entertained by her videos and found most of her critiques to be on point when I do my own “research”.
There are so many Instagram pages, celebrities, etc out there that I know I’m missing out on a lot of good ones. Please take the time to share your favorite “just for fun” accounts with me, so I have new fun people to follow and mindlessly scroll through after my kid goes to sleep each night!
